South Korea’s CJ Logistics Corp. announced on Tuesday that it completed its next-generation delivery system, LoIS Parcel, and introduced it to delivery sites nationwide.

This upgrade to the delivery system, the first in 10 years, can handle up to 20 million pieces of data daily, with the main feature being enhanced stability via a cloud-based infrastructure.

The company is currently processing up to 10 million pieces of parcel data per day.

CJ Logistics began upgrading its system in 2021 to develop a next-generation delivery system as the amount of data to be processed increased exponentially due to the growth in parcel volume.

LoIS Parcel is a system that integrates and manages all data generated during the parcel delivery process, including reservation, sorting, dispatching, and settlement from the core parcel system, as well as from a mobile app used by delivery drivers for pickup and delivery tasks.

CJ Logistics decentralized its servers from one to four, ensuring uninterrupted operation even if a server fails, while focusing on building a stable system that can handle long-term operations alongside the parcel industry’s growth, the company explained.

In particular, the transition to a cloud environment for servers allows for efficient handling of parcel volumes during peak periods, such as holidays.

CJ Logistics plans to use LoIS Parcel to enhance delivery service management and improve quality by increasing data usage.

“With the introduction of LoIS Parcel, we have established a foundation to improve service quality while proactively responding to future environmental changes,” CJ Logistics vice president Choi Woo-seok said. “We will continue to invest and lead the cutting-edge of the delivery industry.”
